Add your recordings to the archive.
If you, your family or your club still keep recordings of đờn ca tài tử, send them to DC2T. Each one grows the archive and helps the model play more truthfully. Pictures and written notes are just as valuable: photos of a session or an instrument, a handwritten copy of a piece, a story about a player.
Why your recording matters
Tài tử music lives by being handed down by finger and by mouth: every region, teacher and club has its own way of playing that no book fully records. A home recording, even one made on a phone, keeps exactly that: the touch of one particular person at one particular session.
For the model, variety matters even more than quantity. So far it has learned from about four hours of instrumental playing, mostly the twenty ancestral pieces, so a great deal is missing: singing, pieces beyond the twenty, the sound of different regions. Every recording you send adds a colour.
You do not need to be a master. A club session, an old tape from your grandparents, something you played at home are all valuable. We listen to every recording, keep the details you give us, and never republish anything without asking you.
